Is online therapy effective?
The option of online sessions is a popularised form of psychological support that gives the same results as working face-to-face in the office. It is an effective and innovative approach that is very popular around the world, mainly due to its convenience and availability.
Particularly in the corporate space, online therapy provides a game-changing digital transformation to the wellness revolution within the corporate spheres. Happy employees make great team members. And with online therapy, conventional mental health support is easily accessible.
Beyond support, online therapy can also be used for team development, by fostering leadership skills and empathy skills through mindset therapy. All with a click of a button.
Online therapy is the future
Some people worry that online therapy will not be the same as sessions in the office.
And it’s true, it will be different.
I will not be within arm’s reach and I will not be able to pass you a box of tissues when needed.
However, I will still be there for you, listening to your every single word.
I will still be holding you in mind, in the exact same way I do when working in the office.
How does it work
The same standard – the same time – the same cost – the same amount of help.
Online sessions have the same structure as sessions face-to-face in the office. The work is carried out according to the same ethical standards, with privacy and confidentiality.
ONLINE THERAPY FOR INDIVIDUALS
Just like traditional therapy, online therapy works wonders on an individual level. It brings the benefits of traditional therapy, with the increased connectivity of digitalization.
Essentially, it's a one-to-one virtual meeting with a therapist, taking place over video calls, audio calls, or text messaging. Just like traditional therapy, except more comfortable and convenient for you!
Here are some perks of online therapy for individuals:
Flexibility: Schedule sessions as per your convenience, whether it's late nights or early mornings.
Comfort: No need to travel to a clinic. You can have a session right from the comfort of your couch.
Privacy: Online therapy keeps things discreet so you won’t have to worry about running into someone you know.
Access: If you live in remote zones or areas with limited practitioners, online therapy is a much-needed bridge.
Consistency: Even when life gets busy, maintaining regular therapy sessions is easier when they're online.
ONLINE THERAPY IN THE CORPORATE WORLD
With the rise of holistic wellness benefits in the office, mental health is deservedly getting the prioritisation it deserves in the workplace. Online therapy has a major advantage when it comes to accessibility. Compared to face-to-face therapy, it's much easier to access and can be a great option for many people.
Advantages of online therapy:
Open boundaries: Online therapy removes geographic barriers, providing global access to mental health support for all employees anywhere in the world. As long as you have WiFi, we can connect.
Expanded reach: It caters to larger audiences in corporate settings, including remote and dispersed teams, ensuring mental wellness for all.
At your pace: With recorded sessions, employees can access therapy based on their schedules —the ultimate flexibility.
Cultivating soft skills: Online therapy contributes to positive and empowered teams, fostering nurturing corporate culture. It provides training and upskilling of soft skills necessary in the workplace like leadership skills and empathy skills.
Energy and quality: The quality and energy of therapy remain top-notch, regardless of the online approach.

Interactive webinars: Companies can host engaging webinars on mental health topics. It's learning, networking, and therapy rolled into one.
Emotion Regulation & Stress Releasing practice: Virtual meditation, Progressive Muscle Relaxation and Mind Training (and Relaxing) programs can be part of the therapy package. It's all about tapping that inner peace and balance.

TRANSFORMATIONAL MINDSET THERAPY
Mindset therapy is an approach that focuses on transforming your thought patterns, attitudes, and beliefs to foster personal and professional growth - a great overall approach for corporate spaces.
Creating leaders: Mindset therapy shapes not just employees, but leaders. It promotes leadership skills like decision-making, team communication, and resilience, nurturing a growth mindset for the corporate journey.
Empathy in action: Beyond technicalities, mindset therapy fosters emotional intelligence and empathy skills. It fuels understanding, and patience, transforming workspaces into nurturing, empathetic environments.
There is someone right for you
Whether you’re going solo or looking after your team’s wellness, it’s important to find the right match as without the willingness to open up and ‘share more’ the trust may not be built. There are a lot of psychologists working online and that’s why I would like to encourage you to shop around and find the person you will feel comfortable with.
What to look for when choosing psychologist
what is their specialisation
what work rules guide them and
is there the ‘chemistry’ between you two, meaning an atmosphere of understanding, openness and willingness to continue cooperation.
Confidence is born with time, as well as the results of a good relationship. And the feeling of ‘wanting to say more’ will appear even during difficult conversations.
Whether it’s personal or professional wellness and development you’re seeking, online therapy can provide you with the assistance you need in a quick and accessible way.
Not sure if online sessions are good for you?
Ask for intro call
I always offer the INTRO call, which is our very first conversation to get to know each other, so it helps both sides better assess whether there is a match and how we can work together on your goals.
How to prepare for online sessions
Before the session write down your concerns and any questions you have
Download the software (I use Zoom) you will use for the session onto your phone or laptop
Decide on the place you will sit, make sure it’s comfortable and quiet
Get a drink and a pen and paper
Give yourself time for transition, stop doing anything non-therapy related 5 minutes before your session
Online sessions cuts out travel time, which is great but it also means you will not have the natural shift in your mind from daily tasks to therapy.
You Know You’re Ready for therapy if…
You are in an endless cycle of starting and stopping
You want to overcome procrastination
You want to gain more confidence and clarity on how to move forward
You are excited about what the future will bring
Individually or in the corporate space, it’s hard to ignore the benefits of online therapy.
It has become an indispensable mental wellness option in our digital world and particularly in corporate spaces, it’s a transformative tool that organisations can provide to its workforce to create a supportive, balanced, and resilient workplace.
I understand the concerns related to online sessions, as I had them as well when I started working online. They passed quickly though, once I tried it for myself. So whether it’s for personal use or for your organisation, I highly recommend scheduling the intro call to see how the online work feels for you.
I am confident that I will get you the results you’re after, so you - and your workplace - can live the life you want.
After all, online sessions are easier to fit into the busy lifestyle, therefore much easier to commit to.
