Mind Training Day 8

More than half of distractions are self-inflicted (made internally) which means we need to be able to reclaim a bit more control over what we think and how interrupting it might be.

DAY 8 - Set Aside Worry Time

What to Try:
Designate a specific time each day (preferably in late afternoon or early evening) to focus on any worries or intrusive thoughts that might distract you throughout the day. Use this time to jot down your concerns, then put them aside until the next scheduled worry time.

How to Implement It:

  • Set aside 15-20 minutes each day (for next 10 days) to write down your worries.

  • During this time, allow yourself to fully focus on the worry. Acknowledge it, write it down, and notice what body sensations show up.

  • Once the worry time is over, actively choose to let go of those concerns for the rest of the day.

Why It Works:
Worrying throughout the day is a huge source of distraction. Cognitive science shows that trying to suppress worrying can actually make it worse. By setting aside specific time to process worries, you’re allowing yourself to deal with them in a structured way. This method reduces the number of intrusive thoughts throughout the day, helping you focus more effectively on the tasks at hand.
